Gloria Dei’s current Pastor is the Rev. Steven J. Anderson. He is a life-long Chicagoan, and attended school in the western suburbs, as well as the city of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College, Chicago. He began his studies for the Pastoral Ministry at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1995, and earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in 1999. He received the Divine Call to Messiah Lutheran Church, 62nd and Monitor, Chicago in April 1999. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry on July 11, 1999 and was installed as Pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church on July 18, 1999. He served at Messiah Lutheran Church until October 31, 2003. He was installed as pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois on November 9, 2003, where he still serves.
In addition to his parish responsibilities, Pastor Anderson has also served in many different positions in the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, including as a member of the Board of Directors, Circuit Visitor, and currently, as Chairman of the East Region Pastoral Conference, and as Vice-President for the East Region (City of Chicago & near suburbs).
