The Rev. Steven J. Anderson is a life-long Chicagoan and attended school in the western suburbs as well as in the city of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College, Chicago. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1999. He received the Divine Call to Messiah Lutheran Church in Chicago in April 1999. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry on July 11 and installed as Pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church on July 18 of that same year. He served at Messiah Lutheran Church until October 31, 2003. He was installed as pastor of Gloria Dei on November 9, 2003, where he still serves. On November 27, 2023, he was Installed at Hope Lutheran Church in Countryside, Illinois as two congregations entered into a Dual Parish arrangement.
In addition to his parish responsibilities at Gloria Dei and Hope, Pastor Anderson has also served in many different positions in the Northern Illinois District of the LCMS, including as a member of the Board of Directors, Circuit Visitor, and Synod Convention Delegate. He is also a DOXOLOGY graduate. Currently he serves as Chairman of the East Region Pastoral Conference and as 4th Vice-President of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
